Ipod video is only capable of playing certain mpeg4 video files. Most movies that you might have stored on your hard disk are not available in this special new video format. Although you can import and manage those movies with your iTunes program they cannot be synchronized with the Ipod because the Ipod only plays special mpeg4 video files.

Movies from DVD cannot be copied onto the Ipod without additional software tools at all. These movies have to be first extracted from DVD and afterwards converted into the Ipod video format.
