Spotlight on MySQL 2.0.1

Spotlight on MySQL displays a complete visual representation of the MySQL database allowing you to observe actual activity, including process flows and configuration settings in real time from a single display. It quickly identifies performance bottlenecks and problem areas in complex data sharing environments using flows, graphs and visual icons, and alerts you with an audio or visual alarm when key metric thresholds are triggered.

Distribution permissions for Spotlight on MySQL
The development team for Spotlight on MySQL welcomes any comments on this release of the software, and information on any other issues or limitations found in the product. Current issues and limitations include:
• Security issue when using TOAD for MySQL 1.1. When using Spotlight on MySQL in combination with TOAD for MySQL, ensure that the version of TOAD used is 1.2 or later. A bug in TOAD 1.1 and earlier may inadvertently cause the exposure of your database user password.
• `iostat` required for full functionality on Linux systems. In UNIX-based systems, Spotlight on MySQL requires access to the iostat program in order to display its full functionality; it will display an error if iostat is not available. A number of Linux distributions do NOT install iostat by default.

If you encounter an "iostat command not found" error while diagnosing a MySQL database, you can either:
• Click "ignore", in which case the error message will not appear. However, I/O by Disk statistics will not be shown in the OS Performance page of the OS Details drilldown.
Install the iostat command. On Red Hat Linux this command is included in the sysstat package.
Tablespace storage data not available without O/S user permissions to view InnoDB files. In this case, the Tablespace components in the Storage panel of the Spotlight on MySQL home page display the value N/A.
