Mozenda was started to help users make sense of that unstructured data. We felt that, by allowing users to determine what information they need from a website and how that information should be structured, the data on the Internet would be infinitely more useful to businesses. Our product consists of a desktop application that is used to build web data-extracting agents and a web application that is used to access extracted data. This means that Mozenda makes it easy to create customized feeds of data from nearly any web page and then manage, export, or reuse that data.

The combination of data from multiple sources allows users to have useful, up-to-date information whenever they need it. It also allows users to easily create mashups, monitor competitors pricing, keep track of customer opinions expressed in forums and on blogs, perform custom research, and automate many online tasks.

Mozenda differs from current competitors in several ways. First, we have created an intuitive interface for building the agents that gather data from web pages. In fact, most agents can be built in 10 minutes or less. By making the agent-building process easier, we are making the option of data extraction available to users of all levels of technical experience.

We also offer a different approach in our pricing. Current solutions require large up-front expenses for software and hardware. Mozenda, alternatively, charges only a $39 a month licensing fee and a small, tiered data usage fee. We hope these lower costs will further open the door for users of all kinds to get the data they need from the web.

Finally, Mozenda is the first company of its kind to provide hosting for and programmatic access to the data its users acquire. Hosting data allows Mozenda users to review and export their data online at any time without having to purchase additional hardware/software costs or bring in additional IT help.
