Free Optimism for Mental Health screenshot fileWorks with Windows Vista
A quick, easy to use application that is powerful in helping you understand your mental health. It is used for recovering from depression and other illnesses, for maintaining good health, and as a self-help tool.

Optimism prompts you to keep a detailed record of all things that affect your state of mind. By monitoring patterns in your life you can identify negative influences that you need to avoid, early warning signs that your health is deteriorating, and the inputs and activities that benefit you most. Charts and reports highlight cause and effect relationships that you might normally miss.

All output can be printed or saved to PDF, and emailed to a health professional prior to appointments if appropriate.

v2.9.7 (August, 5. 2009)
A new set of icons has replaced the previous set. The 2 and 4 week charts can now be adjusted to start or end on any date. Minor changes have been made to the Help content, and the serial validation process has been updated.
v2.9.6 (July, 3. 2009)
Improved formating of the Help function with links to screencast tutorials. Changes for registering, making it clearer and simpler for new users, and following removal of the embedded store. Instructions for deleting trial data, a fix to the calendar and updated some web links.
v2.9.4 (May, 19. 2009)
We've changed the Charts to open in a separate window for all time periods, rather than from the main interface. They can all be accessed from the same menu, be kept open while examining other data, and they are all resizable. The 10-day charts have been removed and 2 weeks is now the default.

We've added a Help manual accessible through the Help menu, expanding on the contextual Help available in each window. A replacement serial number validation process has been implemented, and we've made numerous small changes to the interface and url links to the website.
v2.9.0 (April, 8. 2009)
Added a new screen called "Isolate", an interface for quickly filtering data. It can help to find patterns in the user's records, allowing for more precise examination of causes and effects. We've also made changes to improve the installation process, and added an Undo function for text fields.
v2.8.0 (February, 27. 2009)
Added a range of resizable Charts, catering to longer time periods from 2 weeks up to all records. Changed the print output of the default Chart to provide the same information as the PDF function. Revised the text on the Plan screen and in multiple Help windows.
v2.7.0 (January, 24. 2009)
Days of the week have been added to the Report and Charts, with Saturdays and Sundays in a different color. Headers have been added to the Charts PDF. The Password window now appears prior to the current record window. Trial users are no longer locked out at the end of the evaluation period.
v2.6.0 (November, 21. 2008)
Custom headings in Preferences are now displayed on the Report and Charts screens, PDF files and print-outs. On the Charts PDF the field labels are larger and wrap across lines. Only active fields show on the grid. A text note above the Charts indicates any date discontinuities in the records.
v2.1.0 (September, 30. 2008)
Help windows are included in key spots with information on how the various functions work with some practical examples. A new set of icons has replaced the previous set. Trial data has been reintroduced for new users to help them quickly understand how to use the application.
v1.4.3 (July, 19. 2008)
Pointers for the 3 Rate sliders on the Record panel snap to values in 1 point intervals. The exercise slider snaps to 5 minute intervals. The order of Plan panel fields have been changed to match the Record panel.
