Cross-site Lookup refers to information from another site, while Cascaded Lookup establishes more relationships with lists then trims down lookup information as choices in lists are made. Lookup Boost summarizes information related to an item in a list.
Working with these three powerful tools greatly enhances SharePoint data and information lookup, setting a wider reach of information between SharePoint sites and users at the same time cutting down lookup errors.
Cross-site Lookup is a much simpler but feature-packed lookup tool that gets information from any site in a site collection. A find-as-you-type functionality filters items displayed in the lookup field according to a view defined in the source list. To know more, check out the Cross-site Lookup page.
Cascaded Lookup is also a lookup tool but with more powerful features and establishes more relationship with lists. It creates more choices on dropdown menus but at the same time cuts down choices as data is specified within each drop-down menu, thus also cutting down lookup time. Lookup Boost - summarizes all information related to an item in a list. The page displays not only all items from which this item looks up, but also all items which look up information from this item. - If users have no permission to access the source list, an Access Deny error will occur when users enter the New Item form or Edit Item form.
- Users need to reenter the value if the other columns cannot pass the validation when submitting the New Item form or Edit Item Form.
- Filter lookup items by view;
- Sort lookup items by filter view.
Bugs Fixed:
- Does not work when "Allow multiple values" is selected;
- Does not work when the list is modified by the SharePoint designer;
- When there are four Cascaded Lookup columns with the same parent column
- Allow change site and list of cross-site lookup when these information is lost(often occurs when a new site is copied from a site template).

- Not auto filter when there are multiple-level cascaded dropdown lists.
- Auto select child item when parent column is changed in Cascaded Lookup
- Auto populate child columns when change parent column in Cascaded Lookup;
